News at Home and Abroad...
Well, part One of the Real World Gathering has happened. Elbryan and Zedd arrived at my house safely on Sunday last. What a treat!! They are both well and happy and it was a true joy to host them here (even if Elby did threaten to kill my cats...A Knight Defender with allergies? Say it ain't so!!). We took Barnes and Noble by force on Monday!! They may never recover! I sent them off to Lord Marco's on Tuesday, where after only a slight wrong turn, they arrived in good order. Last night Athelstan arrived in Seattle...how marvelous to hear a voice on the phone instead of just seeing words floating over that blue hair! I understand that Elbryan, Zedd, Athelstan and Marco are all meeting up tonight (perhaps as I type this). Elbryan and Zedd will begin the long journey home on Friday, and I will be travelling to meet Athelstan and Marco on Saturday night. What a great week!! I'll send a full recounting of our visit when it is complete. To all of you enjoying Spring Break, I hope your week has been great fun! And to all the Defenders, may all your journeys be safe and swift!Derek's Vigil
Squire Derek has suggested that his vigil be held via ICQ. Please watch the message board for time and day. I'll try to post a warning here too.Yours, Aye - Sir Daedin, Herald of the Cross

Guild Wide Meeting Recap:
We met via ICQ this evening for the Guild Wide. Thanks to everyone who attended! Sir Elbryan began with the Great Lakes shard report, stating that things there were a bit...chaotic. He also noted that some fight nights have been missed while he's been busy with school. The GuildStone in the Tower has been transferred to Elbryan, which means the names have been wiped, so members will be to re-add. Keep in mind that Elbryan and Zedd will be on a real world trip to visit Daedin and Marco, so they will be away until after next weekend. Sir Daedin gave news on the Order Guild offer from Relmishalex..details of that are on the message board. Sir Daedin reports that Sonoma Wednesday night fights are continuing with the People's Army of Sonoma and friends, much fun, huge turnout as several Sonoma Guilds are involved. Yesterday was a treasure hunt that was a blast! Squire Sepiroth has contributed the funds needed to buy a boat there, so seabourne adventures will begin again there very soon. Contact Daedin if you find yourself on Sonoma looking for a party.Sir Daedin began new business with the following: "...I have some things to say...(cut). I've spent about every night that I've been online for over a week talking to various people about what they are happy with and unhappy with in the Guild. I've talked to most...not all and I've been thinking about this alot. ALOT. So...here is what I propose and what I see. We have many concerns...we don't even know all of each other's concerns, so it's been way chaotic and people are getting really testy and a bunch of us are going away for a while <on vacations and such>...like most of next week. (cut)...this is my proposal: (cut) We all decide the things that we want to see happen in the Guild...specifics (cut). I want you all to devise the systems you want or think would work and propose them for us all to look at. Loran did some of that...we've done some other things in the past...(cut)..so think it out and come up with your 'ideal HCD' and post it on the message board THIS WEEK like...before next Thursday. Sooner would be better."
Avatar Thor then told us some very disturbing news about some problems with the decoration of the Dorm. Apparently, when GM Carnox arrived to fix it, he deleted all but one of the bears and the oven. Avatar Thor is lodging a formal complaint with OSI, as no replacements were provided. He said he will post the details on this on the message board, so others that may want to complain on their own will have the details.
With that unhappy news, the meeting adjourned and some members retired to the Tower to re-add on the Stone.
Respectfully submitted, Sir Daedin MacAoidh, Herald of the Cross

I was contacted by Relmishalex of Great Lakes tonight (thanks Sepiroth for directing him to me). You may have seen his postings on the UOSS page regarding the creation of an army of Order to combat Chaos on Great Lakes. It's an ambitious project and sounds like alot of fun! He has posted some words on our message board. Please take a look and contact him or me if you are interested in participating. We'll be talking more about this on Thursday, but he said you are welcome to get on the stone any time.Knight's Council on Sunday:
The Chivalry is slated to meet this Sunday night/Monday morning, March 21/22 at midnight CST on ICQ.A Happy Side Note:

News from Knight's Council:
Sir Elbryan announces that Dakkon has exchanged oaths and become his Squire. Well done Knight and Squire! We were saddened to receive word that Squire Mordos Krull will be seeking his fortune outside of the HCD, and we wish him the best of luck and happiness in his endeavors. Farewell and bon chance, Mordos! The roster has been updated with the changes. We are hoping that Squire Derek will be with us again soon, and will postpone plans for his vigil and elevation until he has returned. Hurry back, Squire! Sir Daedin is hoping to get things moving on the HCD shard. Look here for updates on progress and calls from her for help :). Thank you to the Knights who were able to attend.Respectfully submitted--Sir Daedin, Herald of the Cross (Web Chick)

Knight's Council:
There was a little confusion about the Knight's Council...my fault, very sorry. I had it slated for next Sunday night, so Knights, lets plan to meet then, ICQ, Sunday Night/Monday morning at midnight. That's the 6th of March. Again, my apologies for the confusion. See you then!Guild Wide Meeting:
Our Guild is slated to meet this month on March 18, 9pm CSt, at the Tower on Great Lakes. If you have business, but are unable to attend, please forward your message to me and I'll present it. Hope to see you there!- Sir Daedin, Herald of the Cross (WebChick)

Early Morning Update:
Well, not really an update, but things have been very quiet of late, so on the occasion of my birthday, I thought I would send greetings to my fellow Februarians. It appears the Holy Cross Defenders have several notable birthdays this month...Athelstan reached advanced age and certain senility on the 6th, Kristiane Sabre's natal day was announced at the Guild Wide meeting, although the actual date was just before that, Avatar Thor's birthday was only yesterday, and well, today is my day of days. Just so you know, I'm now 36. Ancient, and proud of it. Because, my friends, we all know its not the age, its the mileage that matters. If any of you have also celebrated a birthday this month, then shame on you for not telling us so we could wish you many happy returns of the day. And to my fellow Februarians and indeed to all the Defenders, may your futures be full of many many birthdays and may they all be sweeter than the last.Yours, Aye - Daedin, who is reaching a fine vintage indeed! News from the GuildWide Meeting tonight:
An excellent attendance at the Tower on Great Lakes! Sir Daedin reports that Sonoma is very quiet right now, Sir Elbryan reports that Great Lakes is enjoying well attended fight nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.Although Sir Elbryan can appreciate that not all Defenders participating can get to the muster exactly at 10pm CST, he has made it known that the host will leave promptly at that time and stragglers will have to be gated in later at his convenience. Sir Elbryan announced plans to improve the teamwork of Great Lakes fight night with some tactical work to be done prior to the outtings in addition to the current use of the Buddy assignments. Members are encouraged strongly to work with him on organization of the adventure teams.
Sir Elbryan will be working with Kilcannon Vryce, Guild Champion, on organizing the next Guild Champion's Tournament. Look here for details!
The plans were made to acquire the gift of an oven that was promised on Valentine's Day by Lord Marco to his love, Valaria.
Lord Marco made us aware of the addition of the skill 'stealth' by OSI. Keep eyes open for this addition and the possible consequences to our building security. Plans were discussed for moving our muster location from Vesper should we find it necessary after the introduction of this new skill. Details to follow.
We are updating the Guild Charter. Watch for an announcement when we have a rough draft of the changes to post for your inspection.
Also, watch for the announcement of the place and time for Squire Derek's vigil. I'll post the details here when I have them.
Thanks to the many people who attended tonight!

Let us all be thankful for the news that Kilcannon, our Guild Champion, is recovering from a recent car accident. Although he was injured, he is improving and all our warmest regards and best wishes for a swift recovery go out to him. We love you, Kil!Guild Wide Meeting Reminder:
Don't forget that our Guild meets this Thursday at 9pm CST at the Tower on Great Lakes! Be prompt and we'll look forward to seeing you there!Respectfully Submitted--Sir Daedin, Herald of the Cross (Web Chick!)
February 14, 199--Happy St. Valentine's Day!
Early Morning Update:
Just teasing...nothing to update. This is your subtle (not) hint and reminder to send me news and messages of current events. Inquiring Defenders want to know! I noticed a large forge has gone into the Dorm on Great Lakes, and I'm assuming the Guildstone outside is the old one that used to be inside? I'd love to give credit where it is due, but you gotta send it to me to get it posted here! (There's that not suble hint again!) Do you know the scoop on this? Tell me! Give me news!--Daedin, Web Chick

Important News from Sir Elbryan:Humbly submitted by Blindmaster, Scribe
Much has happened on Great Lakes. Sir Athelstan has resigned his post as Preceptor to pursue a holy war against evil. Please see his post on the message board for pertinent information.
With that bit of sad news Sir Elbryan was appointed Preceptor of Great Lakes by Holy Lord Marco. Fight nights will begin at 10 pm CST on Tuesday and Thursday.
Another bit of sad news: Sir Alphon has cancelled his UO account and is now concentrating on other facets of his life. We will miss him greatly (again see posts on message board). Squire Dingo will be using Computer Aided Instruction to communicate with his Knight.
That is all for now. :)
(Thanks Sir Elbryan)

Early Morning News/Updates:
With great joy we gathered on the Tower Roof last night to witness several happenings of import. First, we welcomed Adept Anakin Leuqarte, long time Defender, who was lost in the Ether during our transport to Britannia and has now happily and finally made his way to our holdings. Next, the rank of Adept was bestowed on Edguardo...well done Adept! Next, our own Alphon Geoma was entered into the August Order of the Chivalry. As with his father before him, his words rang with honor, truth and the depth of his great heart. Our Orders are greatly increased with this elevation! Once elevated, Sir Alphon took unto him Dingo as his first Squire. Already a fine student, Squire Dingo's words also were moving and well spoken. Finally, Adept BH Gambit was restored to his rank after a brief absence. What a fine night for the Defenders! Congratulations to all, and thanks indeed to all who attended. The Roster has been updated with these changes. Also, some inactive names were removed. If you find your name is gone, please contact me to be restored to the Roster.
Respectfully Submitted - Sir Daedin MacAoidh, Herald of the Cross/Webmistress

Details of the date, time and location of this event will be posted soon, so look here!

Early Morning Update:
Sorry I was gone most of the weekend...I suppose even I succumb to the flu or whatever it was! Back now, feeling better...had big fun tonight playing with the fine folks of PAS on Sonoma.Got an ICQ number correction for Squire Sepiroth, roster updated. Check you own listing to make sure you are listed correctly and send me word if not.
You may have noticed I had the date wrong for Alphon's vigil, but I've corrected it now. Its tonight at 9pm CST at the Tower on Great Lakes. I hope you can attend!
Many things moved to the archive. Also, I'm considering shortening the length of active messages on the message board to like 10 or 20 days. Your thoughts?
Methios has drafted up some excellent renderings of our Most Holy Cross. He let me take a peek, and when he has a final draft, I'll post it as the main icon for you all to see. If you like it, we'll keep it as permanent! Nice work Methios!
Dingo and I have been talking recently...he is looking for people to help him train in all areas. Don't leave him lonely! Seek him and share you skills!
Knights' Council this Sunday:
The Knight's Council will convene at midnight CST Sunday night (Monday morning) on ICQ. If you would like to send word and are unable to attend, contact Sir Daedin and she'll pass your words along.--Respectfully Submitted, Sir Daedin, Herald of the Cross (aka Web Chick)

Alphon's Vigil:
Squire Alphon informs me that his vigil will happen at 9pm CST on Thursday, Jan 28th at the Tower on Great Lakes. Come and share your thoughts and questions with our newest Knight Candidate!HCD WebRing Update:
I've added the Holy Cross Defenders Web Ring link to the links in the Library menu. Take a look at fellow Defender's pages! Thanks to Anakin for managing the Web Ring!Roster Correction:
It was brought to my attention that I was remiss in listing Adept Anakin back on the roster after his announcement of return. This has been corrected (mia culpa!).These from the Message Board:
From Sir Zedd (Jan 24): "I have the shard up and running. Everyone needs to email me with a username and password for access (I prefer you use your HCD name for the username, and pick some password). Please do NOT use your OSI Password (the one you use to connect to Origin's servers)" <Happy Happy Joy Dance!!!>From Squire Alphon (Jan 20): "...I'll be taking my vigil on the 29th Jan, next Thursday. I'll make decision on the exact time early next week. Everyone is welcome to the vigil. It'll be held on the roof of our Tower." <Great Lakes>**
**Sorry for the delay in posting this everyone...my fault, not his <Web Chick>

UOOS news...or lack thereof
Zedd and I spent some time together late tonight (since Sonoma was down earlier and PAS called off fight night with us "next week, for sure"), he..working on the NT download and hardware test, me...keeping him company on Netmeeting. Alas, the time grew late, and still there were things to be done. So..Patience Defenders. IT SHALL BE SOON!!
January 19th, 1999
Later That Same Day...
I took the moderation off the message board. If we run into ad spams again, I'll consider changing back or maybe using Methios' board for some of our discussions. For now, I would prefer just one board. I love seeing all the action there...keep it up!Early Morning Update
Ok...the 'Library' Button on the Menu now sends you to the links page which gives you links to Methios' page, my page, a site to download UO Switch, and (hopefully) a download of Fuserun. You can use either of these programs for help in modifying your cfg files to run both UO-Origin and the HCD Shard. Lord Shep did recommend UO Switch to me, but both work. Let me know if you have any trouble linking or downloading from there. Oh...and when you visit Methios' page, download the Morpheus font. It makes this page look great too!Daedin--WebChick

Knight's Council Recap
Some news from last night's meeting...the UOOS HCD Shard is expected to be up sometime Wednesday of this week. To access, you will need to download a copy of either FuseRun or UO Switch, programs that will modify your cfg files to let you play our shard or the Origin version. I'll try to get a link set up to get you where you need to go to download. We'll send you word about setting up your access as soon as we work that out. Dingo has some very interesting ideas on setting up areas or zones and some special cities and such. I strongly encourage you to check and post on the message board and get ideas going on both his thoughts and any you have of your own. Please contact me if you have any questions. Bear in mind that not all game systems are operational right now...like respawning and the magic system...but now is the time to plan for them.Sir Athelstan has placed runes in the main meeting chamber in the Tower on Great Lakes. There are additional runes in the chest there as well. Please feel free to use them, but please don't remark or rename them. If you have a house, and have not placed a rune to there in the chest, please do so. Also, he has reorganized the equipment. Mining stuff is in the alcove, scrolls are in the chest by the door, tools and such past that. He's made up a bunch of potions, marked in colored bags. They are there for your use. The armory has moved up to the roof. The equipment is sorted there, available for anyone's use.
Mondain's quests are running, there is a rune to the Shrine of the Four Horsemen in the rune chest.
Respectfully submitted--Daedin, Herald of the Cross
Revamping the menu
I'm going to change the menu and either add a links button, or replace the Library button with a Links button...hopefully this week. I'll be linking my personal page, Methios' page, and hopefully links to the FuseRun and UO Switch download sites. Watch for that.

Methios' Home Page
This is a link to Methios' page, which he has graciously offered to use for information for the HCD to complement this page. Parts of it are still under construct, but it's a great view and very well done! Nice work Methios! (Link can now be found in the Links section)Events Page Update
Sir Zedd reminded me that the events page was a bit outdated, so I've revised it a little. Send any comments or changes, and I'll be happy to post them there or here.Roster Update

GuildWide Meeting Recap (abbreviated) (contact me for a detailed recounting)
The Defenders gathered for the Guild Wide meeting this evening at the tower on Great Lakes. Report for Sonoma says that Wednesday nights are going well, if attended only by a few Defenders. We are encouraging turnout to Great Lakes Fight Nights, with Jobe and Elbryan planning a special event coming up...details as they arrive. We adjourned to the roof for some special events. Avatar Thor has been elevated to Adept Defender, and Sir Ardion was granted posthumous entry into the Order of the Holy Sepulcher for his Martyrdom and his excellent and beloved service in his lifetime with the Guild. His noble contributions were eloquently recounted by Holy Lord Marco, and we spent time in remembrance of him as brother, Knight, and friend. The Holy Grand Master had an announcement of import as well, more on that below.Command from the Holy Grand Master
Lord Marco is posting his words on the message board. ALL DEFENDERS SHOULD READ THE WORDS OF THE HOLY GRAND MASTER. Please do so by going to the message board, linked via the button on the left menu.Respectfully submitted--Daedin, Herald and Knight Defender

Early Morning Update
I think I fixed the geocities ad thing, let me know if you still get it. Dont' forget Adventure Night on Sonoma tonight at 8pm CST. We meet up with the People's Army of Sonoma (PAS) at the Papua Bank. I may be late, so don't wait for me. I'll be a bit pressed for time tomorrow, so if you want to start up a character there, get in touch with me later this week or this weekend and I'll get you started for later adventures. Thanks to everyone who went out for adventure night last night on Great Lakes. I showed up late, but had a great time! Defenders Rock! I reformatted the member list, using the fonts and stuff that I usually do just for convenience. Take a look to check your info and let me know about updates.--Daedin

Update from Daedin
Alphon has asked me to take over as Webmaster (Mistress?) until further notice. I've updated the news submission link so news should come to me. I'm pretty new at all this, so let me know if you run into any problems with the site or the links. I got a weird ghost thing that put that annoying ad window from the old website back up. Tell me if you get the same thing. Expect some small changes as I go through everything in the next week.Guild Wide Meeting
Our Guild Wide meeting is this Thursday at 9pm CST (Jan 14th) at the Tower on Great Lakes. Important news and word about the HCD shard (hopefully). Please make a concerted effort to attend! If you need transport, get in touch with Athelstan or Elbryan before the meeting to arrange it.New Initiate Defender
Lord Marco and Sir Daedin bestowed the Oath of Initiation on their long time SCA friend, Lars on the Sonoma Shard tonight. We are both glad to have him with us, and we look forward to introducing him to Great Lakes Defenders in the near future. The roster has been updated. Please make him welcomed!HCD Shard
Not much to report, other than things are clicking along on this. Equipment and program are being installed and tested. We hope to have more information at the Guildwide meeting.

I'm back with quite a few updates
Yea... the whole day... I've been updating this page and that page and many others... I'm hosting 3 sites at the same time... so I'm begging for help on running this site. If you're interested, please contact me ASAP. Or else, I'm gonna become another Lord Dhrun... too busy to play and too busy to update... and eventually quit =(
HCD Shard Project
I received this bit of news from Sir Daedin off my email,
"Attention : As many of you know, Lord Shep has been working on a UO emulator called UOOS. We decided that we are going to attempt a HCD dedicated UOOS shard. What we need are donations of either funds or
equipment. We need: Cyrix 300 with MB $141, 256 megs of SDRAM (2 128 Dimms at $157 apiece) and a UDMA Hard Drive of any size (1.6 gig at $99). If you are willing to help with funds or equipment, let Marco know
by Sunday. Any amount is welcome! Those involved in this project are slated to meet on Sunday at 11pm CST--ICQ Chat. All Defenders who wish to comment are also welcome to attend! A reminder to the Knights that we are meeting this Sunday at midnight CST as well. If you are unable to attend one of these meetings, but have comments to add, contact Daedin before the time and she'll pass along your messages."
Thanks Sir Daedin!A message from Lord Marco
I got this off my ICQ,
"Ardion, I'm giving you the webmaster position. I sent a message to Dhrun asking him to make an automatic forward. could you please remodel your site to look a little more like the traditional site. By that I mean using the graphics and such. Content I leave up to you."
I suppose there will be a lot of major overhauls on this site.... that's why I'm needing someone to help me out...Message Board
I've corrected the link to the message board. It should be ok now.
